You can lead. Actually we can’t live without leading.
At minimum, you lead yourself. Even if you don’t want it.
I believe in situational leadership. You choose to get the call and you go for it.
Leadership is not the same thing as a job description. Job descriptions will tell you what type of responsibilities are expected for a specific role.
Based on the things you are responsible for, you can be asked to lead an issue that needs solution. You can also choose to lead, which is better because it’s based on your will.
You can find your leadership style. Actually, you should.
One possibility to find more about the way you lead could be understanding the way you manage things. Henry Mintzberg is someone I love to read stuff about management.
Mintzberg talks about the way we work with people, the way we inform stuff and the way we make decisions. I see myself as a “leader-monitor-entrepreneur/disturbance handler” type of person. There are lots of possibilities and ways to find who we are, when leading / managing.
What’s your style?
In the end, I want people to grow and find their own voice.
