There’s a lot into this word.
I like to think about productivity as an strategy to make something happen.
I want to make better decisions, I want to write faster or I want to know what I need to write about when I get out of bed.
Tim Ferriss once said this (I’ve found this on a starred gmail sent to myself back in Aug 20th, 2014):
Productivity = goals –> strategies –> tactics –> tools. Attempting this flow in the reverse (techie tendency) produces a chaotic mess.
— Tim Ferriss on X (Aug 20th 2014)
The way I’m approaching this process is based on discipline and some sort of cadence creation.
Ideas become drafts. Current projects are the source of ideas. Scheduled time become progress time. This is key. And bringing all this together, I have my productivity framework, where I’m focused. Not busy.
I’m writing daily since Jan 1st 2024. And it keeps going. Sometimes a little bit easier, sometimes not.
