Positive emotions as a path to happiness?

We also need a sense of a good life, as Sonja Lyubomirsky stated in a podcast I was listening.

Being happy in and with our lives.

Looks easy, but not much when applied in real life.

I mean… let me elaborate this:

  • Happy in: what are we doing right now? What are we missing at this moment? This is about planning and checking what is happening.
  • Happy with: looking from above, how is life? This is the long run. Difficult to understand if we try to do a month retrospective… even looking at myself, 44 years old. Can I elaborate my life now or I need more years ahead? Not sure.

I understand that sometimes I get one event from the day and make it a definition of my day. Like 1 min frustration becomes the summary of 24 hours. I see that mostly because that 1 min happened again as happened one year ago for 5 mins and three years ago for one hour.

Being positive about life is a definition. I have a moment where every day I celebrate 3 good things that happened during my day. I also think about things I need to elaborate and understand better in the next day.

In the end: what are we learning from life? Getting more conscious about it is key.
